North Mankato, MN
The city of North Mankato, MN, covers 6.2 square miles of land mostly in Nicollet County, while extending a small way into adjacent Blue Earth County. North Mankato is home to a current population of nearly 14,000 people, in an area situated just across the Minnesota River from the larger city of Mankato.
North Mankato was incorporated as a village in 1898. Today, U.S. Highways 14 and 169, along with State Highway 60, are the three main routes through the city. The original producers of Angie’s Kettle Corn were based in North Mankato, and Taylor Corporation, a privately owned printing company, is headquartered there as well. The old North Mankato Public School building is now Belltower Apartments, a structure listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Several parks fill the city, including Bluff, Caswell, Spring Lake and Benson, among others. North Mankato has been designated a “Bicycle Friendly Community” along with Mankato.
