Eagle Lake, MN
The small town of Eagle Lake, MN, covers just 1.5 square miles of land in Blue Earth County, about six miles east of Mankato on the southern end of the lake with the same name. It’s part of the Mankato–North Mankato metropolitan area, home to a current population of close to 3,100 people under the motto, “Where Opportunity Soars.”
Eagle Lake was laid out in 1872, and a post office opened the following year. Today, US 14 and State Highway 60 are the two main routes through the community. Named Minnesota’s second-fastest growing city in 2016, Eagle Lake takes pride in its family-friendly atmosphere, welcoming home its many residents who work outside of town. Several parks, ball fields and playgrounds are open to everyone, in addition to popular bicycling and walking trails. Eagle Lake celebrates Tator Days every third weekend of July, including a Miss Eagle Lake queen coronation, a parade and a fundraising breakfast.
